What Is Wurstfest?

Wurstfest is Texas's biggest German heritage festival, held every November in New Braunfels since 1961. For ten days, the festival grounds at 178 Landa Park Drive — right at the headwaters of the Comal River — turn into a Texas-sized Oktoberfest: bratwurst and German food in every direction, German, Texan, and domestic beer flowing, live polka and Bavarian-style entertainment, dancing, and carnival rides and games. The festival bills itself as "the ten best days in sausage history," and once you've been, it's hard to argue.

Wurstfest 2026: November 6–15

Wurstfest 2026 runs Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 15 — two full weekends plus the week between. Opening ceremonies kick things off on the first Friday, the weekends bring the biggest crowds and the loudest beer halls, and weekdays are the move for groups who want shorter lines and a more relaxed pace. We run Wurstfest party bus trips from Austin daily throughout the festival, so your group can pick whichever day fits.

Why Take a Party Bus from Austin to Wurstfest

New Braunfels is only about an hour from Austin — an easy drive, until you add festival traffic, road closures around Landa Park, parking that fills up fast, and the small matter of an entire festival built around German beer. A Wurstfest party bus solves all of it at once. Your whole group rides together, the built-in coolers keep the pregame going in both directions (BYOB is welcome), your professional driver drops you at the festival entrance, and nobody has to argue about who's staying sober. The ride home — everyone full of bratwurst and singing whatever the bus decides to sing — ends up being half the fun.

How Your Wurstfest Trip Works

We pick up your group anywhere in Austin — a house, a hotel, downtown — and the Oktoberfest vibes start the moment the doors close. Most groups spend four to six hours at the festival: long enough for the beer halls, sausage on a stick, a polka set or two, and a lap through the carnival. Lederhosen and dirndls are strongly encouraged — plenty of groups theme the whole bus ride. When you've had your fill, your bus is waiting to roll everyone back to Austin. Our fleet seats 10, 16, 20, or 24 passengers, so every size crew rides together.

Make It a Full New Braunfels Day

Some groups turn Wurstfest into a full Hill Country day trip. Historic Gruene — home of Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas — is just minutes from the festival grounds, and downtown New Braunfels has its own stretch of shops and restaurants. November is also prime fall season in the Hill Country, so a stop in Gruene before the festival or a detour on the way home fits naturally. Custom routes are welcome — tell us the plan and we'll build the day around it.

Book Your Wurstfest Party Bus Early

November is one of our busiest months — Wurstfest weekends, fall wine tours, and holiday events all compete for the same buses, and festival weekends book out first. Pricing is for the entire bus, not per person, so bigger groups pay less per head. Lock in your date early: call (512) 968-3660 for current rates or book online. Whether it's a birthday crew, a work outing, or just friends who take sausage seriously, Wurstfest by party bus is the version of the trip everyone remembers.
